Running a Regression Analysis

Regression Purpose

Regression Starting Point

Regression Problems

Run the regression analysis by selecting your output choices and withholding observations if desired. If you have defined the right model , running the regression is as simple as clicking the Continue Button.

It there are replicates in your XY design, the Output Details tab of the Regression form looks like this

If there are no replicates in your data, the Output Details tab exposes this view so you can enter a prior s and the degrees of freedom for each response,

You may also choose to withhold observations from the computation of the b coefficients. Note that you must not withhold so many observations that you end up with fewer trials than terms in your model.

Clicking the OK Button (Continue) runs the regression unless you have decided to withhold one or more observations. In that case, a list of the observations is presented so that you can choose which to withhold.

As soon as the regression is complete, you are given the opportunity to view the regression output in the STRATEGY Text Editor. This file should be viewed before proceeding because it might reveal evidence of problems in the data file or the model file.

Output Choices

Note that parts of the output may be suppressed. Most people will need to see the full output until they get very familiar with the STRATEGY for Windows software.
